- Have kids pick out a school outfit for each day of school on Sunday night. Hang each of the outfits on a separate hanger labeled for each day of the week.
- Create school item cubbies for each child in your home. Have kids place their backpacks, lunch boxes, graded papers, anything to be signed and even coats and shoes in there when they arrive home. That way everything is there again when they need to leave the next morning
- Organize children’s toys by categories in clear containers on shelves instead of one large toy box. Kids can see what is in each container and they won’t pull out every toy they own looking for a particular item.
- Hang a clear multi-pocket shoe bag on the back of a closet door to house accessories such as gloves, scarves, hats, nylons, tights, socks, ties and even jewelry.
- Fold a complete set of sheets and store it all in one of the matching pillow cases. It will take up less space in the linen closet and you will always be able to find a matching set of sheets.
- When putting away holiday decorations, buy the same color storage bin for each different holiday (red – Christmas, orange – Halloween, etc.). This way you can easily locate a particular holidays decorations. Place an inventory of the contents on the outside of each container, so you will not have to dig through each container to find what you need.
- In your home office, put the tabs on hanging file folders in the front of each folder and all on the same side of the drawer. Not only is this easier on the eye as you skim down the folders, but you will always pull the folder open to the papers you need.
- Store loose recipes in plastic sleeves in a 3 ring binder. You can use dividers to categorize the recipes and the plastic sleeve keeps them splatter free.
- Create a standard grocery shopping list of items you need each week and organize it by categories. Add blank lines in each category so that you can add other items to your list. Make copies when needed.
- Store one set of cleaning products in each bathroom. This way it is quick and simple to clean as you go.
